About Wirral Sensory ServicesDr. Jim Melville Wirral Sensory Services is headed up by Dr Jim Melville. Jim previously worked for Unilever Research for over 25 years, where he became a leading authority in sensory and consumer research. During his time at Unilever, Jim pioneered many new sensory methodologies which are considered the industry standard today. In 1995 Jim used his expertise to form Wirral Sensory Services, an exciting and vibrant research company. Since its inception WSS has grown to incorporate an extensive team, providing services to a full range of companies from owner-managed businesses through to blue chip corporations. Paul Melville Paul obtained a degree in modern languages at The University of Sheffield and upon graduation joined SDL International as a marketing executive. While at SDL, Paul managed to attract several key clients and progressed to become marketing manager before leaving to join Wirral Sensory Services in 1999. Paul originally joined WSS as part of the marketing team to promote the company to prospective clients while gaining experience in day-to-day project management and has now become the project director, with over seven years experience in both market and consumer research. David Barry David started his career at Ernst & Young in the North West, working in both the Audit and Corporate Finance departments, with a number of clients ranging from small owner-managed businesses to plc’s. In 2000 he joined the Venture Capitalist company 3i plc, where he had responsibility for a portfolio of 30 investments across the North of England. His portfolio reflected his particular interests in the food, engineering and property sectors. David joined Wirral Sensory Services as marketing manager in 2003, and has been instrumental in bringing the benefits of sensory and consumer testing to an increasing number of clients over the past two years. He has an honours degree in Civil Engineering from Birmingham University and is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ACA).
